Myers, Jetta extend Bombers contracts

Updated October 11, 2012 13:34:47

Essendon duo David Myers and Leroy Jetta have signed two-year contract extensions, tying them to the AFL club until the end of the 2014 season.

Myers has played 45 games for the Bombers since being selected with pick six in the 2007 national draft.

Fellow West Australian Jetta has played 83 matches in six seasons in the red and black.

Utility Myers said the decision to re-sign with Essendon was a simple one.

"It was evident from the first half of the season that we can play exciting football and are capable of matching it with the best teams," he said.

"We're willing to do whatever it takes to make this club successful and I feel that we are on the right track."

Jetta resisted the temptation to return home to WA.

"We're a close group, and I want to be a part of this team, because I think we can achieve great things together," said the small forward.

"Playing alongside my close mates Paddy Ryder, Alwyn Davey and Courtenay Dempsey made the decision to stay at the Bombers easy."

Bulldogs extend Dahlhaus deal

Updated June 07, 2012 10:01:43

The Western Bulldogs have re-signed forward Luke Dahlhaus to the end of 2015.

Already contracted for next year, the Bulldogs have rewarded the dynamic youngster with a revised deal and two years added on.

The dreadlocked 19-year-old says he is thrilled to be continuing his football career with the Bulldogs.

"It means a lot to me and I'm just really happy about it," Dahlhaus said.

"I am just enjoying playing my role at the moment and hopefully, I keep doing that, and we get a few more wins".

Dahlhaus was promoted from the rookie list in Round 12 last year after catching the eye with his speed and ball-winning skills, which earned him a Rising Star nod in the process.

He has played 21 matches for the Bulldogs so far, cementing himself in the senior line-up.

Bulldogs List Manager Jason McCartney said in a club statement he was thrilled to have secured the long term future of one of the team's rising talents.

"We are really excited to have secured Luke and we think it's a fantastic reflection on the future of our football club," he said.

"Although only in the early stages of his career, the talent and form we have seen from Luke, gives us every confidence in his future."

Cats extend Scott's reign through 2015

Updated May 19, 2012 23:11:59

Geelong has extended the contract of senior coach Chris Scott until the end of 2015.

Scott, who was originally tied down until the end of 2013, will be in his fifth year as coach in 2015.

Cats chief executive Brian Cook announced the news at a club dinner on Saturday night, 24 hours after the 12-point reverse to Collingwood.

After leading the Cats to the flag in his first year after taking over from Mark Thompson, Scott has had a difficult second year with the club currently 10th in the ladder at 4-4.

"We're very confident in Chris in taking our team and club forward," Cook told the official Cats website.

"We believe he is the man to see us through any transition in list management and at the same time get the best chance of our squad this year.

"We think we have a good chance of being successful this year but also and importantly juggling that with being successful in 2015.

"He's a great communicator. He's been able to manage the list really effectively combining the senior players and the younger players .. in an effective way."

Cook is certain the Cats will not "bottom out" and feels Scott's experience playing during the Brisbane Lions' transitional years after their great success at the start of the millennium will stand him in good stead.

"He went through a transition (in Brisbane) so he has that experience also there," Cook said.

"We're not going to bottom out, we don't plan to bottom out, we plan to stay around the finals throughout his entire contract."
