Sports Math: Fractions Made Easy

Sports Math: Fractions Made EasySports Math is a collection of games designed to let students practice their math skills under the enthusiastic direction of sports desk anchor Les Dynam and roving reporter Sam Mathews who introduce each game and comment on the action and progress. Kick a fractioned soccer ball through a goal post or measure your skill at the long jump in meters; it's all about using math skills in everyday life until taught concepts are fully learned! There are five interactive math games included in the software. Each game focuses on a different aspect of fractions, such as estimating, common denominator, proper and improper fractions, adding and subtracting fractions, and equivalent fractions. Selecting one of the TV screens will access one of the games. The activities in Fraction Games are designed to bring fractions to life. Players are transported to a virtual reporting studio and from there to a sports field, where they move the flag on the long jump landing strip, solve problems on the baseball diamond, and so on. From this virtual world, students measure fractional distances at a real-world track meet or interpret sports statistics in the daily news.
