Updated December 27, 2012 22:45:08

Collingwood midfielder Marley Williams has been charged with assault following an incident at a nightclub in Albany, on Western Australia's south coast last night.

It is alleged that Williams was one of two men involved in an argument at the club at 1.30am (WST).

Williams is said to have punched the man who was taken to Albany Regional Hospital with a broken jaw.

The club confirmed the charge, but said it wouldn't comment further as the matter was now in the hands of police.

Williams will appear in court at a later date.

Williams played six games last season after being selected in the 2012 rookie draft.
