The Power's Rob Reid was delighted with the win and the ability of the team to come back from a very disappointing game last week.

With a number of players not available due to being selected for representative squads their absence has allowed other players to get some first team game time and impress the coaches and possible talent scouts from AFL teams.

Rob Reid says Tom Fusinato from Warragul is an example of a player who has taken his chance when being called into the first team.

"He came into the team just a few weeks ago...he's been one of the best players since he came in and he's just showed what a classy little player he really is."

The Power play the Bendigo Pioneers at Box Hill on Saturday.

Power thrash Northern Knights

The Gippsland Power chalked up another win over the weekend with a strong performance against the Northern Knights. Region Manager Peter Francis says the team had one of its stongest performances of the year in Sunday's game.

"The Northern Knights have always been a really, really good side over the years and always hard to play and hard to beat and we knew that we'd be in for a real game."

Peter Francis says that with AFL scouts watching the Power's games local players are certainly impressing during the early part of the year.

"Clay Smith (Bairnsdale) who just continues to get better and better. He had 28 possessions and had taken 10 marks by half time...he just had a phenomenal game. Shaun Marusic from Koo Wee Rup who we brought back as a 19 year old as a centre-half forward. He's around the six foot four mark...he kicked three goals from centre half forward and was instrumental in setting up a lot of play."

Despite the good start to the year the coaching staff are aware of how quickly things can change in any sport.

"In 2010 this part of the season was the turning point for the year as the remaining boy's stepped up to the challenge and started to play up to their potential. When the less experienced players came into the side they were well supported by the others and it's important that they keep the same intensity this season." Said Francis

The Power play the Oakleigh Chargers next Sunday (15th May, 12:00) at Morwell.
