State of Origin: Game 1 live on Grandstand Digital

Game 1 between Queensland and NSW takes place at Lang Park this Wednesday night at 6:35, and we have all the action live on Grandstand Digital Radio.

The match will mark the start of the end of representative football for the great Darren Lockyer, with the 2011 series to be the last for one of Queensland's best ever players.

Not only will he be looking to lead his team to a record breaking 6th straight series win, but in Game 1 he will equal the great Allan Langer with 34 Origin Games.

His Queensland team mates will be desperate to send him out a winner, and a victory on home soil in Game 1 will go a long way to achieving that goal.

For the NSW boys, a few new faces have been called in to the squad as they look to win the opening game of a series for the first time since 2008.

Not only have their northern rivals dominated in the series count in recent years, they have also allowed NSW to win just 1 in the past 8 starts, so the Blues will be putting everything on the line to win in Brisbane.

Expect fast, entertaining and high scoring football, with the odd bit of biffo thrown in for good measure.

Make sure you don't miss a minute of the action - tune in to Grandstand Digital 1 or 2 this Wednesday night from 6:35pm

Folau to watch Origin but happy in AFL

Updated May 18, 2011 14:20:00

Israel Folau says he will be watching rugby league's State of Origin series opener but has no second thoughts about his code switch.

A year ago Folau was at the centre of controversy after Queensland picked him the final two matches of the Origin series after he had announced his multi-million dollar code defection to fledgling AFL club Greater Western Sydney.

This week he is quietly continuing on his steep learning curve as the Giants prepare for their AFL debut next year.

It is a world away from the hype surrounding his former team-mates in the record-breaking Maroons Origin team but Folau says he has had no second thoughts about his move to the AFL.

"Obviously it is a bit different compared to 12 months ago but I'm not thinking about it at all now, my focus is making a success of the move to Greater Western Sydney," he said.

"I will be watching it on Wednesday, I wish the boys all the best, I enjoyed my time in rugby league but my focus is now on this new challenge."
