Power supporters have had a great run since 1997, but Peter Walsh says now is the time to keep faith with the club.
It's Round 9 and the future of the Port Adelaide Football Club is blurred.Just one win and some very inconsistent quarters have been played.
Supporters are restless and a win might be further than just around the corner.
Are we being too harsh?
Since 1997 the club has been able to produce some very consistent football and has given their fans so much to enthuse about.
17 finals appearances for 8 wins and 9 losses.
A Premiership flag to brag about forever, but now there are some really tough times.
I have a message to supporters.
Hang in there!
The club is experiencing significant changes and there will be significant pain.
Any player about to tip into his 30s will find it hard to stay in the best 22 and there will be some pain saying goodbye to valued performers.
All clubs have to bite the bullet.
Players like Banner, Broadbent, Butcher, Curnow, Hartlett, Hay, Hitchcock, Irons, Jacobs, Jonas, Newton, O'Shea, Pittard, Redden, Trengove and Young are the potential stars of the future.
If the majority can get to the 50 games or better they will form the nucleus of a much stronger club in the not too distant future.
Seldom do I get annoyed about the game I love so much, but when I hear about supporters who pick and choose as to when they will follow their team - GIVE ME A BREAK!
Matthew Primus has a very tough gig and there is no short cut to success.
I will be very surprised if Power does not win a half a dozen games and is more than competitive in all of the others.
They certainly still have the Power to win!
