Hawks buoyed by injury news

Posted May 9, 2011 14:14:00

Hawthorn's midfield stocks have been boosted by positive injury reports on Cyril Rioli, Brent Renouf and David Hale.

Rioli is set to return from a hamstring problem for Sunday's clash with St Kilda at the MCG.

Big men Renouf and Hale should also be fit to play this week.

Renouf was unable to finish Friday night's 32-point win over Port Adelaide at Football Park because of hamstring stiffness, while Hale was a late withdrawal with a sore back.

The fifth-placed Hawks boast a 4-2 record.

The Hawks have a nine-day break between matches, while the Saints have the disadvantage of playing Carlton on Monday night then backing up against the Hawks at the MCG on Sunday.

"I don't think it's going to be an issue for us," Hawks captain Luke Hodge said.

"You can never write St Kilda off."

Hodge says one of the pleasing aspects of the victory over the Power was the even spread of contributors, with players such as Liam Shiels prominent in the best players alongside midfield dynamo Sam Mitchell.
